It is a legal requirement to set out your health and safety policy in writing, if you have five or more employees, and to set out your disciplinary rules and discipline and grievance procedures in writing.*1

It is also considered good practice for a company to have policies in a number of other areas, if not inappropriate - see table below. For some of these areas, there are legal minimum requirements set out in UK law.
